What is Clamato? What is in a Clamato?

Clamato is a tomato-based drink popular in Mexico and the United States. Clamato is made with tomato juice, clam broth, sugar, and spices. Clamato can be served as a beverage or used as a mixer for cocktails.

Clamato is high in sodium and calories, so it is important to consume it in moderation. Some health benefits of Clamato include its ability to help with weight loss, digestion, and joint pain.

Clamato juice is often used to mix alcoholic beverages, such as Bloody Marys, Micheladas, and Caesar cocktails. It can also be relished on its own as a refreshing drink.

It is sold in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

Clamato was created in Cañada, Mexico, in 1966 by Don Miguel Marcos and his family. The Marcos family owned a small cannery where they canned clams. They noticed that after extracting the clam meat from the shells, there was a lot of juice leftover. They experimented with adding tomato juice and spices to the clam broth, and Clamato was born.
